Nice idea, sadly broken beyond belief.
Kind of impressive that mods like this are still being made. I guess you have to respect the effort.
Nothing extraordinary, just some new units, maps, new weapon system, where it is no longer possible to reload the weapon but it heats up, I haven't even finished the campaign, I think it's not a problem with the mod itself, but with the AI that is too dumb, she sticks herself in the middle of the enemies and will always prioritize the player, totally takes the immersion out of the game, Star Wars Battlefornt 1 didn't have this characteristic, and the AI was much better, does anyone know of any mod to improve the AI ? that makes it not prioritize the player but the nearest enemy????
I believe that what makes a good mod is, obviously, being fun to play, but most importantly, is its ability to blend in with the base game's assets to the point it could be easily mistaken for an expansion pack, or at the very least well enough so that it doesn't feel intrusive to the game's original vision even when it's based on a completely different setting. We have the classic Third Age Total War as an easy example. While I had no immediate issues with the gameplay itself, this mod utterly failed at the latter requirement, with a horribly idealized art and sound direction that clashes with Medieval 2's originals at every opportunity, tacked over it in incredibly poor taste. Trashy stock metal music instead of Medieval 2's iconic tracks? Come on...
It's nice to see someone attempt to portray Episode 3, and the new sounds and animations are impressive, but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. Fighting a horde of enemies through a door isn't fun, neither is endlessly running down plain corridors - and I'm someone who enjoys walking simulators!
In addition, the file size is way too big, impossible to justify with the length of the mod. Overall, with some polish this could be fun, but at the moment it's hard to recommend.
Muchos enemigos puertas sin arreglar muy grandes y muchos errores
A way to push the experience 70% underground. Not a good choice, better to wait or rent hardware, and not ruin the VR experience with this.
There is a lot to like in this story. There are really cool scripted events, humor, and generally a great deal of uniqueness. Unfortunately, it gets completely ruined by obnoxious key hunts that take you out of the game. There are three separate parts of this story where you are hunting for keys and a few of them are in ridiculous places. One key is actually clipped inside an object and you can't even see it is there unless the stars align and you mouse over it. Another in the same area blends in with a wall and is next to invisible, also requiring you to use an object on a very tiny section of some machinery. Two earlier sections have keys hidden in absurd places nobody would look. Despite a lot of cool ideas, this feels like it wasn't play tested and the key hunts are just incredibly bad game design. This is worth a play if you're a big fan of Amnesia custom stories, but don't start here.
the exaggerated headbob ruins it and gives nausea , it's an ok mod tho
Infinite Shift clearly has passion behind it but sadly it's not enough to salvage it. What we have here is a pretty barebones, blocky and clunky experience.
As mentioned, the mapping and brushwork is pretty blocky and undetailed, even for the time. At best the maps look mediocre though they are not without variety. The whole, twelve map experience feels like a retelling of HL's events while you're in a hurry. You fight with aliens, then come soldiers, the tentacle, train section, dark assassin room and finally the ending.
The mod originally needed Blue Shift to run but beside some animations of BS used in simple scripted sequences there isn't anything justifying it being based on the expansion pack. In-fact, the only thing that makes this a mod and not a mappack is the fact that hgrunts being changed into robogrunts.
Overall, this isn't a terrible experience by any means, there is fun to be had here and a few funny scenarios to witness, but there isn't anything that makes it a good mod either. Blocky design and lack of any meaningful scripted sequences combined with poor balancing makes Infinite Shift a "one and done" deal. You can try it as there are much worse out there, but I don't know if anyone would return for a second playthrough.
**** whoever removed the god damn crosshair AND added far away turrets every other map.
Black Mesa misses a lot of the spirit of the original game and also a weird blend of HL2 puzzles with HL1 stuff. Some set pieces are beautiful but I feel like the art design and puzzles in the Xen levels is unclear and irritating.
hmm... i don't know what is that
big improvement from the first one. Still pretty darn rough
Great mod, however found some things that should be resolved like the main quest that you got into to join a faction but once you arrive at Duty base for example to join them.. "sorry we dont trust you enough" how does this make sense??
the lack of weapons in this mod its kinda frustrating and gets boring after a while
no fast travel system
weapons not telling which ammo they use
the model look fine but this kind of "ultra definition" mod has bin done many of times and they all look the same this mod is really a nothing burger
мод по началу удивил меня, но потом разочаровался...карта сделана убого,беды со освещением и т.д. даже желание проходить дальше не было, потому что это ряльно ужасно! оценка мода:4/10, 4 бала за хорошее меню мода, остальное мусор!
This is a start review/ a question.
I want to say that this concept is a really cool mod to have, however it appears single player does not work by changing characters?
Does only multiplayer work?
mediocre
Shorter than expected with doses of heavy combat and a wacky storyline.
Voice acting was... okay, I guess. Different. Combine shouldn't sound so high-pitched, but then again I'm not sure about any of the choices to use regular characters in this... universe.
Combine chase was janky, along with some of the scripting. "Oh finally, some peace!" [Combine soldier runs out the door shooting] Then the music cues the actual ambush a few seconds later.
Physics objects are a pain in the ***. Kept getting jammed up on singular books and milk crates while trying to escape grenades.
Combine had strange armor. Headshots were an insta-kill, but bodies took a disproportionate amount of lead to stop. Kinda made me wonder if I should even be shooting them or just running by. If you don't headshot every soldier immediately, you're quickly overrun and out of ammo since the player keeps getting caught in unfair ambushes. Combat is unbalanced, but challenging.
The author claims to have put a lot of attention toward dialog, but there's no real plot to speak of. The "cutscenes" are long-winded and boring, and then it just... ends. Right after setting up the next mission. It ends.
Mapping was decent and probably the only redeeming quality of this mod, but there were too many escort-type missions with tiresome scripting and following around slow-moving allies.
I don't understand why this has such a high rating. It's set in a nonsensical alternate reality that's not compelling or convincing, and leaves the player with a mountain of questions before pulling the plug. Tries to be too ambitious without any substance.
