Empire at War Expanded (EaWX) is a series of mods by the Thrawn's Revenge team for Star Wars: Empire at War which overhauls all aspects of gameplay and graphics while bringing the game into different parts of the Star Wars timeline, attempting to incorporate elements of modern grand strategy and 4X gameplay from games like Stellaris and Total War into Empire at War. The project was started in 2006, and in recent times we've moved to trying to do monthly live updates, bringing new, improved, and refined content with each release. The main project for the last 14 years has been Empire at War Expanded: thrawn's Revenge, taking place in the Post-Endor period of the Star Wars galaxy, covering the collapse of the Empire after Endor through to the end of the war between the burgeoning New Republic and their peace treaty with the Imperial Remnant, although this timeline is being expanded into the Yuuzhan Vong War, Swarm War, and Second Galactic Civil War period and events up to 44 years after Endor with upcoming updates. A second mod, EaWX: Fall of the Republic, is launching in early January 2020, bringing the same gameplay style to the Clone War period, covering the galaxy-spanning conflict between the Jedi-led Clone Army and the Separatist Battle Droid armies.
The Star Wars galaxy is a big place, and we're changing how we handle the progressive maps in all of our mods! As the main attractions of the mod, a lot of content is based in and around these map setups. In the past, while you could change your starting era/year and have planet ownership vary based on that, we were stuck with the same set of planets no matter when you began.
In the X.3, for both Empire at War Expanded: Fall of the Republic and Empire at War Expanded: Thrawn's Revenge (along with the upcoming Revan's Revenge), that's now changing. Every start year comes with its own layout, giving us the ability to swap out irrelevant planets in later years for more important ones, and allowing us more leeway to balance the maps throughout each era. Hi there,
Just discovered the mod recently and really enjoying it! Absolutely awesome work by everyone working on this.
I had a question though: does anyone know how/when/where you are able to upgrade the New Republic admiral who uses a Lucrehulk ship (the guy from Duro, I think) to the battle-variant? It says in his description he can be upgraded, but I haven't seen anything about the process.
Thanks to anyone who can help!
honestly voon masa is better as an auxiliary hulk same command bonusalmost as much shields as the Battle carrier has the same fighters but with the lacking guns its lower pop so you can have better modern combat ships in the front while he pukes waves of fighters :P
but yeah any level 4 shipyard and check the politics and research tab once hes there
Any tier 4/dreadnought shipyard planet
Seriously man?? Only Steam? It is not difficult to adapt it to GOG or Disk lol
If it were possible, it wouldn't have to be "adapted" at all. The Steam version of EaW has had several official updates which weren't made for GoG and Disk which are necessary for many of the functions the mod takes advantage of. "adapting" it would mean cutting basically everything we've done since the last time we were able to do a GoG/Disk version, which already had to be pretty stripped down.
If it's not difficult, do it yourself "lol"
its amazing how confidently incorrect you are
Man, I remember when this mod first came out. There was hardly anything here except a lot of enthusiastic people now its almost a game in itself. Good job guys. Good job.
This greatest mod is for all times and ages! Keep up the good work!
Is this page dead? Isn't 3.2 been uploaded to this site as well?
.2 is the current one in steam, when the mod updates on steam there is no way to play the old version, so when the mod updates the past version gets archived here.
.1 was in 2021, in 2022 we got .2 this is up on steam at the moment, whenever .3 is ready it will override the .2 on steam
if you have say a .2 campaign and the update hits the saves of that wont work but you can download that version and keep playing that from here
In fairness, the recent patch from Petroglyph apparently broke the .1 version.
However, we don't currently have plans to fix it since the .2 version is already out (and works), and we are busy working on the .3 version.
